TTHE CHALLENGE IN A NUTSHELL
Substitute a nine-patch-unit(s) for an existing unit(s) in a quilt block.
A selection of quilt blocks to be modified by the substitution of nine-patch-units was mailed to members at the end of February.
Members have the option to size their selected block up to 36" x 36".
Fabric choices may be coordinated or scrappy.
Members choose the desired end-size of their project.
STEP 1
Nine-patch-unit construction
To kick start this challenge, members are asked to piece just the nine-patch-unit(s) for their selected block and to email a photo of the nine-patch-unit(s) alongside their selected block pattern to the email address provided in the mailed directions.
STEP 2
Block construction
During the spring season, members are asked to piece the number of modified quilt blocks required for their project.
STEP 3
Project construction and completion
During the summer into autumn, members are asked to stitch their blocks together into their desired project.
Members have the option of adding sashing and borders to their project.
